Microcosm : Takin’ Hold / Year One

Hot on the heels of HP031, Hocus Pocus put the pedal to the metal for HP032 & the debut single release of label resident… Microcosm!

Microcosm’s first solo release on the new look Hocus Pocus see’s the Mancunian producer by way of Donegal, Ireland unleash two dark-edged rollers that will do damage in the most beautiful way to any UK dance floor!

A – Takin’ Hold

Takin’ Hold combines old school pads, classic breaks, lashings of distorted Reese layered over deep sub-bass and a dusty old vocal from the sixties to devastating effect. Hard-edged with soul & vibes with classic vocals, old school pads and heavy breaks. This one rolls out & is true to its origins in old school Jungle with that new school fresh twist! Proper!

AA – Year One

Year One is a tune held dear to Microcosm’s heart, as it was the first track he produced after making the move from Manchester to Donegal. Seeing UK music from a different perspective, “it felt fitting to make a twisted drum and bass Jungle track”. Taking the usual ingredients… simplifying, twisting up the sounds and break patterns whilst still aiming to do damage on the dance floor. This one definitely has got the nod-factor!
