Hocus Pocus is proud to present their 5th release in the form of their first EP ‘Escape Artists’. The first in the line of this EP series is about bringing something for everyone to the table and showcasing the rising stars & full 360 across all sub-genres in Jungle/Drum and Bass. No matter what your preference you are sure to find a tune on the EP that will tick the boxes!
A – Sterling Sound: Back to the Real
Our first ‘Escape Artist’ comes in the form of Cardiff based collective Sterling Sound who with a bag of serious bangers are set to level the field in the dnb landscape over the coming months. We are very pleased they decided to drop this sweet Jungle cut on us for Hocus Pocus. Deep pads and vocals bring the vibe correct before rolling out into hype vocals, traditional breaks and bass that just leave you feeling like you’re in the midst of the Amazon doing a war dance! A must have!
B – Dawn Raid: One Dove
Dawn Raid brings to the EP this energised and uplifting roller. An uplifting Hip Hop style riff teamed with trademark pads and strings on the intro, set the tone. One Dove builds into a nice sub low groove with energetic vocal stabs that rolls out with real intent.
C – Freeze: Crop Signs
Hocus Pocus welcome into the fold Northern bred but Bournemouth based artist Freeze with a very heavy debut track on the EP. This one is for those you like it grimey, bouncy, jump up, deep & minimal all at the same time! Dark and sinister strings lead the intro with well-placed soundscapes and vocals. The drop is devastating, reminiscent of an army of autobots & decepticons changing into battle mode! & will snap your neck into submission throughout… definitely a big dutty grimey one!!!
D – K Jah feat Dub Princess: Funkathon
More fire from the fast up & coming Birmingham star and this time he’s brought in company. This tune draws on soulful Latin influences and combines them with a big roll out of beats, sub bass & vibes throughout! This one will transport you to that hot place and put the cocktail in your hand as soon as it drops…. Funky to say the very least! Heavy!
